The British Film Designers Guild has members in every grade of the art department, from draughtspersons to costume designers, set decorators to production designers, and was formed with the aim of raising the standards and the profile of the art department and protecting the interest of its members.

The Guild also answers queries as to the availability of all members and holds a complete list of their work to answer any queries. A 24-hours answering service helps producers and production designers to crew up from Guild members as quickly as possible. This information is regularly updated and our aim is to make the
BFDG the first stop for Art Department recruitment.
Among regular social events, which are an opportunity to meet other art department members, the Guild offers bi-weekly film screenings at Pinewood Studios in conjunction with the British Guild of Film Editors. Other social events, meetings and meals are planned on a regular basis.

The Guild also publish a monthly newsletter which is open to contribution from any member and aims to keep all members up-to-date with the latest information on production and employment prospects.

In addition the Guild publishes a brochure of all its members with a list of their latest credits, which is sent to production companies and producers all over the world. They also have a website which gives the latest credits of all members and has been particularly valuable in dealing with American companies coming to Europe. Guild membership includes a listing in both the brochure and the website.
